embracing slow living
I heard a quote today that resonated -
“Don’t worry. Don’t hurry. And take time to smell the flowers.”
Wise advice from a granny somewhere.
I’ve been going nonstop since I got back into the workforce in 2019. There’s been lots of stressful external factors - mergers, MBA classes, COVID, campus protests - that have impacted me over the years. So I’ve decided that it’s time to take a break from work for a while and reconnect with myself.
I know this break from the day-to-day work grind will benefit me in several ways including mentally, spiritually, and physically. It will also be a time to spend more time with my family, especially my son. I want to appreciate every single moment of his childhood because as I get older it passes by way too quickly.
The last five years has been a chapter in my life that I will never forget. There was so much growth, and so much to celebrate. I’m thankful for all of it. I also know that there are more good things to come.
In the meantime, though, you’ll find me reading, taking lots of walks, actually enjoying a home brewed cup of coffee, and just embracing more of a slow way of living. I hope it engages my creative side again, too.
For anyone who reads this, I hope you are well and happy where you are in life.
Stay healthy,
L
